Makerspaces in Elementary Schools

This webreel is a collection of resources to help teachers and librarians incorporate makerspaces into instruction. Makerspaces provide opportunities for students to learn through hands on application. They allow students to learn through trial and error, collaborate to problem solve, and think creatively. All of these skills are outlined in the American Association of School Librarians Standards for the 21st Century Learner. They are also supported by Common Core Standards and SC standards. Makerspaces make learning fun, while also addressing the curriculum requirements. This webreel will help clarify what a makerspace is, give guidelines for how to get started, address budgeting issues, and help professionals gather ideas for makerspaces.
